Hot Tips!
Thoroughly researched with our guests’ interests in mind, TravelGlo’s Hot Tips! are a collection of unique experiences you’ve never considered. Often not mentioned in travel guides, take advantage of our insider knowledge and discover fantastic things to do, places to go, food to try and much more.
Arrive Perth – Albany
Welcome to Perth. Meet up with your fellow travellers and tour manager before diving straight into it – a city tour awaits! Then get ready for a road trip way down south to Albany. Have your camera at the ready during a pit-stop at the Porongurups, the oldest mountain range in the world. Did you know Albany is in the Great Southern wine region? A great excuse to try the local drop over dinner tonight.
Stay: Ibis Styles Albany
Albany – Pemberton
Today you’ll see it’s not all red earth out here in WA. Bask in the blue skies, beaches and ocean breeze during a tour of Albany, which finishes at the National Anzac Centre. On the way to Pemberton, you’ll stop at the Valley of the Giants for the Tree Top Walk above the canopy of ancient tingle trees. Arrive in Pemberton by the afternoon and scope out a place for dinner tonight.
Stay: Three Nights, Karri Valley Resort
Daily :Margaret River
HOT TIP!
Rustle through the locally made one-of-a-kind treasures at The Margaret River Collaborative, then grab a coffee or a glass of bubbly in the leafy courtyard.
A full day to explore the glorious Margaret River wine region. You know what that means – wine! But first, take a walk through Jewel Cave – Western Australia’s largest – to see delicate cave coral, stalagmites and fossilised remains of Tasmanian tigers. It’s then off to a winery to taste outstanding chardonnay and cabernet sauvignon made with passion. With a free afternoon you might head further along the wine route? Or put your feet up back at the hotel.
Daily :
Pemberton
HOT TIP!
Some of Pemberton’s tallest karri trees were used as fire lookout towers in the ‘30s and ‘40s. If you dare, purchase a climbing pass from the town’s visitor centre and ascend the tallest – the Gloucester Tree – for sprawling views over the forest.
You’ll be immersed in nature during today’s tour of Pemberton, a town hedged in by karri forests. Afterwards, there’s some spare time to sink your teeth into the region’s sensational food and wine. Those who can’t sit still might prefer to hit one of the many bush tracks on foot.
Daily :Busselton – Ferguson Valley – Bunbury
HOT TIP!
They say no visit to the Ferguson Valley is complete without stopping at Gnomesville. Bring along your own gnome to add to the ever-growing thousand-strong community.
During today’s visit to the seaside town of Busselton, pencil in a walk along the famous 1.8 kilometre-long jetty and the vibrant main street. The Ferguson Valley – ‘Fergie Valley’ if you’re a local – is not far up the road and you have some time to enjoy the amazing scenery before reaching Bunbury. Once an industrial port, Bunbury is now filled to the brim with trendy boutiques, wine bars and restaurants. See if you can spot the street murals while looking for a place to enjoy dinner tonight.
Stay: Quality Hotel Lighthouse, Bunbury
Daily :
Bunbury – Fremantle – Perth
Take the coastal road on the way to Fremantle, where you’ll enjoy a guided tour before an afternoon all to yourself. It’s said Fremantle has a pub on every corner – so you’ll have no problem finding somewhere for lunch and a drink . Late this afternoon head back to Perth and gather as a group for a farewell dinner.
Stay: Travelodge Perth
Daily :Depart Perth
After a relaxing morning at leisure, it’s time to farewell Perth.
Daily :Go far for less
